چکیده
Physcomitrium eurystomum Sendtn. is a temperate to tropical species, Red Listed in Europe, now collected on the way Mattupetty from Munnar of Idukki district Western Ghats Kerala. Splachnobryum obtusum (Brid.) Müll. Hal. was lateritic midland Malappuram Both these species are rare occurrence and poorly known Ghats, hence described detail with images.

Ecological niche comparison and molecular phylogeny segregate the invasive moss species Campylopus introflexus (Leucobryaceae, Bryophyta) from its closest relatives
The delimitation of the invasive moss species Campylopus introflexus from its closest relative, Campylopus pilifer, has been long debated based on morphology. Previous molecular phylogenetic reconstructions based on the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacers (ITS) 1 and 2 showed that C. pilifer is split into an Old World and a New World lineage, but remained partly inconclusive concerni...
متن کاملMorphology of Mosses (Phylum Bryophyta)
With over 12,000 species recognized worldwide (M. R. Crosby et al. 1999), the Bryophyta, or mosses, are the most speciose of the three phyla of bryophytes. The other two phyla are Marchantiophyta or liverworts and Anthocerotophyta or hornworts. The term “bryophytes” is a general, inclusive term for these three groups though they are only superficially related. Mosses are widely distributed from...
متن کاملMolecular and morphological incongruence in European species of Isothecium (Bryophyta).
During the identification of Moroccan samples a plant belonging to Isothecium with characteristics of I. alopecuroides (Dubois) Isov. and, to a smaller degree, I. algarvicum W.E. Nicholson and Dixon was found. Problems with attributing the plant to any of the European Isothecium species and the known large morphological variation in I. alopecuroides suggested that molecular studies were needed ...
متن کاملSymphysodontella madhusoodananii (Pterobryaceae, Moss) a new species from the Western Ghats of India
Symphysodontella madhusoodananii Manju & Rajesh, sp. nov. an epiphytic pendant moss, with flagellate branches and long acuminate leaves with two short costa is described and illustrated from the tropical wet evergreen forests of the Western Ghats of India.
متن کاملEndogenous auxin and ethylene in pellia (bryophyta).
The occurrence of endogenous indole-3-acetic acid and ethylene in bryophyte tissue was tentatively demonstrated using gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, and double-standard isotope dilution techniques. Rapidly elongating stalks (or setae) of Pellia epiphylla (L.) Corda sporophytes contain approximately 2.5 to 2.9 micrograms per gram fresh weight of putative free IAA. Et...
